The next offering of Fluxcourse will be June 8-19, 2026. This year, it will be hosted at Indiana University (IU) - Bloomington.
The course is an intensive, two-week short course focused on measurement, synthesis, and modeling of land-atmosphere carbon, water, and energy fluxes. The course serves 25-30 students and postdocs from all over the world, and the course content is curated and delivered by an international cohort of 10-15 volunteer instructors (click here for a list of past instructors). While the syllabus changes with each offering to keep up with advancements in the field, it is always organized around the integration of flux measurement, modeling, and cross-site synthesis. Course fees are $3,000, and the fees cover lodging and meals for the duration of the course. Attendees are responsible for the cost of their travel to Bloomington. Most will fly into the Indianapolis International Airport and then take a shuttle to Bloomington. Attendees who drive to Bloomington will be offered a parking pass. Participants will stay in single, climate-controlled dorms rooms with a shared bathroom.
Applications to the 2026 Fluxcourse are open. Applicants should fill out this form, and also request that their primary mentor or supervisor prepare a short letter of recommendation that addresses how the course will benefit the applicant's career trajectory. The letter of reference should also address the availability of funds to support the applicant's participation in the course.
